Um einigen Kommentaren vorzubeugen: hier ist momentan auch relativ kalt, daher das altbekannte Zwiebelsystem.

Dublin, our own...

Arrival, february 27th
Our trainee semester started already pretty nice when we arrived on Friday at the airport Schoenefeld. This is the way to make more money by Ryanair. At the check in we were told only 15 kilos at all, no matter how many lugggage we take with us, up to 3 pieces. We thought checking in 2 bags would allow us 15 kilos each. So my neck was swollen the first time that day. Thanks god that André´s family still waited for us going through the security control. We had somehow repack all the luggage and leave almost half of it there. At least the woman at the counter closed more than just one eye. At the end I had still more than 5 kilos to much. Even trying to get through with a handbag and a backpack with my notebook didn`t work. So we put the laptop in André`s backpack and I a lot of clothes in my handbag.
On the flight we met another guy from Leipzig who was going to visit a friend of his for the weekend. Through him we could save some money taking a public bus to O´Connell Street by taking the public bus instead of a city shuttle. There we split. We both started walking form there to fiend the house where we rented a room. The way was quite easy to find even though the streets were crowded with people. It took us about half an hour. Some of the mates living in already opened us the door but the father of our landlord was not there to give us the keys and I had forgotten to write down his number before. Somehow Chong Hu, one of the Korean´s living here helped us to find out the number. So we tried calling that man several times. My neck swoll the second time. When reaching him, his doughter who is the landlord came over and we got our room. More or less as big as mine with two single beds, two clossets, a big table and a TV.
After taking a little shower we started heading for some groceries to buy some food. Even thogh we already knew what kind of prices to expect our chins fell down after paying 50 Euros for almost nothing.
Saturday
I think we almost walked most of the walking tours which I had in my Dublin guide on the map. The biggest streets in the center and 2 parks as well. We had to find at least a shop to get a blanket. André had to leaver his bedstuff in Berlin because of the trouble with the luggagge and so he slept the night before only with his bedsheets and was freezing. I had a sleeping bag but had to leave my bedsheets.
We both fell in love with the city. The traffic is worse than in Berlin jams all over means more standing in the car than driving but we had fun trying to get along with the traffic on the „wrong“ side. At the beginning we still stood on red lights but by watching the others it changed. Still we have to get used to it. Seems as when the pedestrians have more rights here, because we are still not run over by cars. And the signs written down on the streets are helping us and other people frome continental europe to survive. > LOOK LEFT or on one way lanes > LOOK RIGHT.
All in all there are 7 rooms in the house, 6 twin rooms and a single room. We are on the ground level and chare kittchen and bath with an italian girl next door, and I really mean next door. Our rooms are connected through a door which is locked with each other but we can hear everything. A friend of hers whom she is sharing with arrives in a week. The house at all is noisy all over we can hear each footstep of those living above us and even almost all what they are talking about. Whether we got to get used to or I will use my earpluggs.
Sunday
At least I didn`t sleep on weekends as long as this weekend for months. After breakfast we wanted to walk to the place where we will start working tomorrow. The distance was supposed to be something around one and a half kilometers. The way we tolk was beautiful along a cute little canal. Didn`t take us half an hour but we know when to get up tomorrow. Even we are not sure which of our watches is showing us the right time today. Close to the ministry was the Jewish Museum marked so we went there afterwards. A little hard to find because it was hidden in a usual tiny living house, arriving only 15 minutes before it was closed. Compared to ours…, there is no comparison possible. The pictures will show. I was told that just a week ago two others of the Jewish Museum in Berlin where there but I didn`t know their names. Small world. After coming into a bigger rain shower we headed back home. Being excited of what will bring us the first day at work tomorrow.
